A Snapshot of Question-Charges Looking for Answers”

-0-

So the Chargers bring all their draft picks and newly acquired free agents into camp for indoctrination into their NFL system.

A lst glimpse at the players they added in the offseason, as a (4-12) season is put in the rear-view mirror. But there are lots of questions to be posed with the newcomers on board.

Joey Bosa…the explosive lst round pick…Can a 270-lb pass rusher hold up against 320-lb tackles in the NFL….or maybe can 320-lb tackles block 270-lb pass rushers?.

Joey Bosa…Will be become the next Shawn Merriman-Lee Williams, or turn into Burt Grossman?

Matt Slauson…The latest to try and stay on the field as the starting center of the Bolts, after they stumbled thru 8-different centers in the last 2-years because of injuries. If he is so good-how come he was on the street corner unsigned for so long?

King Dunlop…Says he is not worried about concussions, but he should…4-in his career. First blow to his head this year, send him back to the sidelines, maybe forever?

DJ Fluker..Lots of promise-lots of tenacity, but is he a better right guard or a right tackle?

Joe Barksdale-Chris Hairston…Everyone likes their grit, but do journeyman players like this make a difference and get it done if you really believe you’re supposed to be an elite team?

Melvin Gordon….Caution has to be the byword coming off this microfracture surgical procedure-not to over use him-but give him time, regardless of how badly the coaching staff mis-used him last year, right?

Malcom Floyd is gone and looking for an heir apparent. Does somebody step up and take the job, like Dontrelle Inman, Tyrell Williams, Travis Benjamin, Jevonte Herndon?

Hudson Henry caught everything they threw at him at Arkansas, so it begs, the question, is he the starter with Antonio Gates becoming the tight end specialist?

As they import additional linebackers, where a changing of the guard is underway, it will be fascinating to see if this CFL-safety-linebacker Dexter McCoil is the real deal. He was the lst free agent to sign early in the process. Is he ready made, or just another Corrado Law, good stats north of the border, but not much here?

The success they had with Texas A&M kicker Josh Lambo was a plus, so it begs asking can they go to the well a second time with the Aggies punter they brought in to replace Mike Scifres?

And then there are the kids from a year ago, offensive tackle Tyreek Burwell, pass rusher Darius Philion, the young linebacker Kyle Emanuel. will any of them make a difference this year on a team that need alot of people to step up.

Lots of questions. Today the Chargers start searching for the answers.
