“OPENING DAY-WHAT I EXPECTED”
==========
Interesting opening day for our teams:
PADRES..Everybody hit and the bullpen did a good job, so it was a great way to start the National League journey. Fernando Tatis 3-hits and 2-stolen bases, from the guy who says he is 100%-healthy. Manny Machado had 2-doubles to jump start the season after a poor hitting spring. 5-stolen bases against a rookie catcher. Jackson Merrill put the ball in play, lots of way, enroute to a 4-RBI day. A tough start for Michael King, hits and walks plaguing him. Opening day crowd of 45,000-to kick off the season. Pretty good day.
DODGERS..Typical win, hit home runs, get a solid start from Blake Snell, and then let all the closers do their job. Ohtani and Teo Hernandez and Tommy Edman hit bombs. Typical Blake Snell, a 5-inning outing, over 90-pitches, walks and hits allowed. The bullpen was strong again. The Dodgers, in their new gold uniforms, are (3-0).
ANGELS..Bad start, losing to the 121-loss White Sox, getting wiped out. Big issue is the roster makeup. 6-pitchers who never have had success in the majors, are part of the opening day roster. 4-journeyman utility men in the infield. And 1-rookie outfielder, who has never played in the majors. Sure looks like a massive rebuild after a painful 99-loss season a year ago. Ouch.
