1-Man’s Opinion on Sports-Monday “Postcard from my Vacation”

Post card from my so-called vacation trip…

CHARGERS…Get ready to play a road game at home…Monday night game they will draw 70,000 fans at So Fi Stadium…but the feeling is 85% of the fans will be wearing Silver and Black…This will be a fun matchup-Derek Carr-vs-Justin Herbert…Fun to watch these blazing wide receivers-get open-make big plays…Fun to watch the two pass rush defense try to get to the quarterbacks…Not sure either secondary can cover the other team…Maybe 41-37-last guy touches the ball wins.

RAMS..Guess we should hold off nominating Sean HcVay for the Hall of Fame…his defense got torched by Kyler Murray…gashed by RB-Chase Edmonds and outschemed by Coach Kliff Kingsbury…The Rams defensive depth is somewhat of an issue.

TOM BRADY-BILL BELICHICK…Some homecoming game….Fun thinking all week about this…Brady knows everything about how Belichick aligns defense.  Belichick knows everything about Brady’s ability to read defense. An ultimate chess match..and it showed that way…with Brady bothered by the blitz, by the rain, by the constant pressure.  Rookie QB-Mac Jones was the more impressive but he was bothered by the pressure the longer the game went….Brady wound up with (265Y) passing…Jones put on a Brady-like outing-19-completions in a row (275Y) passing..but Brady beat Belichick in the 2nd half.

PADRES…The end of a miserable Swag Summer of baseball…Jayce Tingler’s shortcoming as manager surface lots of places.  His GM’s decision to trade all those prospects now haunts the team.   The team pitching staff tattered and battered by surgeries.  Someone should hold all the big money players accountable too.  A fitting end to the season on Sunday, Eric Hosmer sat till the end, and Fernando Tatis-Manny Machado-Wil Myers-Tommy Pham, went a combined (0-10) the final day of the season.  There should be alot of changes in lots of places this off season.  Hey Padres, want to see what a winner looks like, just go up the i-5 to LA and San Francisco.  Teams with talent who play together, not this mish-mash mess at Petco Park.

GIANTS…A (107) win season..sprinting to the finish line with a (21-5) record with the Dodgers breathing down their neck.  There are no Award winners in the SF lineup, and no Cy Young candidates on the mound, but a collective great team.

DODGERS…Finish with (106) wins, spent the last month chasing SF winning 41-of final 52-games.  All it gets them will be a home playoff game with the scoring Cardinals.  Fitting end of the season game, with Trea Turner (you remember him-the Padres didn’t want)..cracking a grand slam HR in the season finale.  The big issue though, losing Max Muncy with a wrist injury and now Clayton Kershaw gone for a 3rd time.

ANGELS..Shohei Ohtani winds up the season with a home run and 100-RBIs and such a special season on the mound.  Didn’t mean much aside from cheers because the pitching staff is a mess and the roster riddled by injuries.

YANKEES-RED SOX…Guess it’s only fitting, the enemies play each other in Fenway Park in the wildcard game.  That’s going to be a doozy.

On we go to Monday, likely MLB firings, the Bolts-vs-Silver & Black and much more.

Would have sent you a postcard from my cottage, but decided you’d rather read my website instead.
