“NUMBERS-WE’VE GOT NUMBERS”
========
PADRES…What a fun start for the fans to experience at Petco Park..possibly the best start since their 1998 season.  Heading into the Cubs series:

..Padres starting pitchers with collective (3.55-ERA)
..Michael King (2.42)
..Nick Pivetta (1.59)
..Randy Vasquez (1.72)

..Padres relievers with a combined (0.41-ERA)..that’s right
..Padres bullen (45inn-2R-54K) so far from top 6-relievers.

DODGERS…Not in first place, not in second place, but in 3rd spot having lost 4-of-6 games.

Half the team is hitting below (.240)
Freddie Freeman (.211) has played in just 5-games so far this season.
Mookie Betts (.288) but not much power yet
Will Smith (.381) is best hitting catcher in baseball
Tommy Edman (6HR)-Teoscar Hernandez (5HR) are hitting
Shohei Ohtani (.277) as leadoff hitter, not getting many on base to drive in

Max Muncy-awful start (.176)
Mike Conforto (.224)
Andy Pages (.149)
Kike Hernandez (.114)
Miguel Rojas (.161)
Chris Taylor (.250)

The pitching staff has injuries and home run ball problems up top

Blake Snell is on the DL with shoulder issues..1-good start..1-bad start
Tyler Glasnow (4.85-ERA) plagued by walks and home run balls

Yosh Yamamoto-excellent across the board (1.23-ERA)
Dustin May-impressive coming off 2-surgeries (0.82)
Roki Sasaki after two tough starts-two strong outings (3.29)
Landon Knack (10.38) as a fill in starter.

It looks as if Tony Gonsolin will be here within a week, Shohei Ohtani in May, and Clayton Kershaw in June, so help is on the way.

A good three weeks for the Padres, but realize the teams they have beaten are a combined (32-47) so far.

A strange two weeks after the (8-0) start by the Dodgers, but lots of baseball to be played.

The surprise has to be the San Francisco Giants at (12-4).  Awaiting the flame to get lit by the Arizona Diamondbacks and that strong pitching staff.  Colorado, all you need to know, a (.102) batting average over 3-games, getting shutout 27-straight innings in San Diego, and now they are at Dodgers Stadium.

We’ve got stats.  Of course, it’s really early in a long baseball season.
