Mighty 1090 Sports Radio….ceases operation with money-ownership disputes with Mexican licensee who owned the station tower and program licenses….Ownership seized the station at 11:30am for late payment of fees….and started programming music from a Texas station it owns….Mighty 1090 is owned by BCA Radio….and operated by JMI-John Moores-former owner of Padres…..BCA lost its Mexican FM station “The Max” and ESPN 1700 three months ago because of financial-contractual disputes and never regained those stations….BCA has been in negotiations with former Radio owner John Lynch about re-joining ownership group….Lynch founded the original XTRA-690…then founded Mighty 1090….1090 Station has been in operation since 2003…..Lynch founded XTRA-690 in 1987 and owned station till Jacor Radio-Clear Channel took over operations in 1997….Clear Channel sold the 690 Sports format in 2002 to a Spanish group and transferred the sports format to an LA station….Lynch resurfaced to form BCA in 2002-then bought the Max-1700…secured Padres-Aztecs rights and launched new all sports station…Lynch was removed as President of BCA by Viejas then co-owners in 2011….JMI-Moores took over co-owernship from Viejas as that point….Sources say the station has lost 30M since launching in 2003…..1090 had the highest ratings of the 3-all sports stations in the market..but rated (1.6 share) only #21 in market….Padres station (97-3) was rated (0.7) #27…1360 rated (0.4) #28 in Neilsen ratings in last rankings for February.
