– Preview of NFL games –

Chargers-Jacksonville

  • San Diego fans may have had disappointing seasons over the last couple of years, but the product on the field those years is nothing like you will see on Sunday.  The Jacksonville Jaguars come to town with maybe the least amount of talent seen in modern times in the NFL.  They’ve been blow out of 3-straight games, have decided to force feed young QB-Blake Bortels, have a team with little veteran talent, lots of young players, and a track record of failure in the draft and free agency signings.  The Tom Coughlin-Marc Brunell era seems like a hundred years ago.  The fallout from the Jack Del Rio-Gene Smith era has not yet been erased.  The Jaguars numbers are staggeringly bad:  119-points allowed in an (0-3) start; opposing teams (35:37) time of possession;  Defense allowing 160-yards per game rushing and 306-per game passing….Quarterbacks have been sacked 17-times in 3-weeks…Offense is averaging 266-yards per game…24% conversion rate on 3rd down.  This might be as bad as watching week four of the preseason schedule.  Remember how bad the Lions were in the Matt Millen run (0-16) season?  This is how bad Jacksonville is right now-maybe worse.  Blackout lifted-Sponsors pick up 3,000-unsold tickets…Chargers walkover-yes.  Chargers name their score-definitely.

Green Bay-Chicago…

  • Packers are struggling to protect QB-Aaron Rogers and struggling on offense….Bears coming off emotional win in ugly game with Jets-still trying to sort out who they really are on offense…Bears defense to get after Packers.  Pick Chicago.

Eagles-49ers…

  • Chip Kelly’s offense isn’t hitting on all cylinder yet, but they have firepower…Wait till LeSean McCoy gets untracked…Big WRs causing matchup problems too…Nick Foles really playing well…San Francisco has lots of pieces on offense but nothing seems right, not RB-Frank Gore, TE-Vernon Davis, or even OL…Defense still trying to recover from injuries-suspensions.  Philly will fly.

Saints-Cowboys…

  • Think there will be some fireworks in this one.  Drew Brees offense slowly coming together, but one still wonders about defense.  Cowboys RB-DeMarco Murray has had 3-straight 100-yard games, but all they talk about are the fumbles.  Look for Tony Romo to come out throwing.  Don’t think either defense can stop the other guy.  Cowboys upset looming here.

Lions-Jets…

  • QB-Geno Smith meet the angry Lions defensive front…Detroit front-can you chase down the Jets QB?…Some storylines in this one.  Matthew Stafford to attack downfield against bad Jets secondary…Looking forward to Jets DL getting in Lions QB face.  Picking Detroit.

Atlanta-Minnesota…

  • Vikings have to play QB-Teddy Bridgewater now, because he is the offense with no Adrian Peterson available…Falcons will score with 3-WR set with Devin Hester now joining Roddy White and Julio Jones.  Big time Falcons will fly-victory.

Patriots-Chiefs…

  • QB-Tom Brady not happy with offense out of sync….Kansas City living off strong pass rush (9-sacks) but not much else…Alex Smith coming off good game for KC…Whichever QB survives the frontal assault pass rush will earn the win.  Pick Patriots.

Titans-Indianapolis…

  • QB-Andrew Luck putting up great numbers without much of a run game.  Titans had nice opening day victory, but haven’t been same team since, and now Jake Locker has wrist injury.  Charley Whitehurst, possibly your turn to put your helmet on and put your clipboard down.  Colts will do it big time.

Carolina-Baltimore…

  • Cam Newton health is big issue, and he may have to carry the load with Panthers having four ailing RBs….Joe Flacco, Steve Smith, three RBs look as if they have too much for Panthers, who don’t have suspended DE-Greg Hardy….Baltimore bombs them.

Bills-Texans…

  • Buffalo defense much bigger-tougher anyone realizes, now goes after their ex-teammate Ryan Fitzpatrick-QB of Texans….EJ Manuel had really poor game against San Diego pass rush, now has to face JJ Watt-Brian Cushing and friends.  Texans win it.

Bucs-Steelers…

  • 2nd year guy Mike Glennon starts at QB…Bucs without offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford for rest of season (heart problems)…Pittsburgh pounded ball on ground last week, has Big Ben, but also a leaky defense….Steelers slam them.

Raiders-Miami…

  • Wonder if football fans in London really know the difference between good NFL football and bad?  This will be bad.  QB-Derek Carr is fun watching, but only one wearing Raiders colors playing well…Dolphins have OL problems, confidence issues with QB-Ryan Tannehill, and not so good defense.  Somebody has to win-maybe Raiders do it…This won’t be like watching Chelsea-Manchester City…maybe more like Norwich City-Newcastle United.

NY Giants-W-Washington…

  • (45-14) Thursday Night Football..Eli Manning throws 5TD passes (300Y-P)…Kirk Cousins throws 4-picks-Redskins lost 2-fumbles-allow 2-QBX.
  • 6-teams have byes this weekend…Cardinals..Seattle..Broncos..Rams..Browns..Bengals.
