Preview-NFL Games

Chargers-Raiders…On paper San Diego has the superior firepower…on the field though the Raiders are the healthier team….Philip Rivers is unstoppable and his troubled offensive line appears ready to get OT-King Dunlop and OG-Orlando Franklin back as starters this weekend….The trouble spot is Derek Carr, throwing to Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. may be throwing against a battered secondary that might not have Eric Weddle, a limited Jahleel Addae and a troubled Brandon Flowers.  This could be really high scoring.

Seahawks-49ers..Once upon a time this was a great NFC-West matchup….Now the Seahawks are only a piece of what they once were with injuries, retirements and free agent defections, and QB-Colin Kaeperneck is the last man standing from what was a pretty good team just two years ago…Somebody will be (2-5) by this weekend.

Patriots-Jets…The Border War is renewed again…Tom Brady has New England at (5-0), while Todd Bowles’ accomplishments are impressive with the Jets at (4-1) with Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB, Chris Ivory pounding the ball at running back, and not too many recognizabled names at receiver….The key, how does New England hold up against the Jets strengths, that defensive front seven, and lest we forget Revis and Cromartie on the corners?

Saints-Colts…Game could be to save someone’s head coaching career….Drew Brees-vs-Andrew Luck while the nation writes about Sean Payton and Chuck Pagano on the brink of losing their jobs…Prediction high scoring game.

Cowboys-Giants….Eli Manning tries to bounce back from a miserable 3-turnover game and loss last weekend…Dallas just does not have enough offensive weapons anywhere on the field with all these injuries..Somebody’s season probably end this weekend.

Eagles-Carolina…Cam Newton is carrying the unbeaten Panthers, and he is making plays with his arm and feet…The Panthers defense is playing really well and now LB-Luke Kuechly is back from concussion protocol….Philadelphia is showing signs of explosion…QB-Sam Bradford is throwing too many picks right now, but DeMarco Murray is coming off a 100-yard game and Chip Kelly’s offense is showing some diversity…They are becoming a dangerous team.

Bills-Jaguars….Unrest in Buffalo right now about all the wild things Rex Ryan is trying to run with the defense he inherited….EJ Manuel stays at QB-but the Bills are really banged up at wide receiver and might have to recruit some people from the stands in London…Jagus are (1-5) and still ask QB-Blake Bortels to do too much by himself.

Bucs-Washington…Turnover city game here…Jameis Winston faces a strong blitz package…Kirk Cousins keeps throwing picks….Doug Martin-vs-Alf Morris could be a fun running back matchup…Has the potential to be lots of interceptions here.

Falcons-Titans…Marcus Mariota has lasted 5-games and is now ailing with a knee problem….Quarterback sacks and picks have become an issue in Nashville…Falcons bounce back with a fury after losing last week…Atlanta still really strong offensive team.

Vikings-Lions…Detroit finally won a game as Matthew Stafford unleashed a 400-yard-4TD game….Minnesota will try to control the game with Adrian Peterson seeking a 100-yard outing on the ground.

Steelers-Chiefs…Landry Jones had to play last week with the Michael Vick injury, this after playing lots and producing lots in preseason….The Steelers sure have lots of weapons on offense now, 3-deep at WR, the veteran tight end, and the two RBs…..KC has Alex Smith, but no Jamal Charles (knee) and no Jeremy Maclin (concussion) and no hope of rescuing this (1-5) season.

Browns-Rams…St. Louis has had two great outings from RB-Todd Gurley, but is struggling to protect QB-Nick Foles…Defense is their strength, but they need to score points…Josh McCown is playing with great courage and you expect the Browns defense to continue to grow.

Texans-Miami…Pity Houston, which doesn’t have much firepower….Miami played with great gusto last week under the interim coach, so it will be interesting to see if they can ratchet up another outing like the 6-sack, Lamar Miller (111Y) rushing, Ryan Tannehill passing game.

Ravens-Cardinals…Baltimore is (1-5) and looks like a shell of the franchise they used to be…Joe Flacco has no help….Arizona fell from the unbeaten ranks, but is so powerful on offense, and plays so well at home too…Cards lay a real beating on the former AFC-North power.
