Pro Football Notebook-Week 5-NFL

Chargers-Steelers…Michael Vick will run the Pittsburgh offense, but really Le’Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams will run he football…Look for Steelers to try and control the clock and keep their young defense off the field, and keep Philip Rivers on the sidelines…Chargers feel good about last weekend’s win over Cleveland, but they gave up (438Y) to one of the worst teams in the NFL…they should be concerned about their defense….Antonio Gates returns to a very good offense, coming off his suspension.

Bears-Chiefs…They’re both in trouble, but Kansas City is in bigger trouble.  Alex Smith has been sacked 18-times already…For every big play in KC it is followed by a negative play…Awful offensive line…but Bears are even worse talent-wise.

Rams-Green Bay….Strong armed St. Louis pass rush against Aaron Rodgers and big play Packers package…Will see if Todd Gurley-Tre Mason running back combo can move football and not let Rodgers on the field.

Bills-Titans…Marcus Mariota meet Rex Ryan…interesting matchup in Nashville…Bills offense limping with injuries to LeSean McCoy-Sammy Watkins….Titans rookie QB playing pretty well.

Seahawks-Bengals…Andy Dalton is (23-10-1) at home…Seahawks are struggling on offense with ailing Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson, and a quarterback who has taken 18-sacks already….Think what it would be like if Russell Wilson did not have escapability talent.

Redskins-Falcons…Atlanta running it, throwing it, winning it…likely to go to (5-0)…you wonder how much longer Washington stays with QB-Kirk Cousins.

Jaguars-Tampa Bay….Jameis Winston is in Tampa what he was last year in Tallahassee, turnover machine…..7-interceptions-4 fumbles so far for Bucs just a month into the season….Hard working Blake Bortels just does not have much offense to help him in J-ville.

Saints-Eagles…Could you have ever imagined these teams being (1-3) at this point…Drew Brees banged up-not much offensive help….Eagles offensive line deplorable…bigger question, has the NFL caught up with Chip Kelly’s offense?

Browns-Ravens….Courageous effort from Cleveland QB-Josh McCown last week in face of relentless San Diego blitz…..Joe Flacco not getting much help in Baltimore with rebuilt roster.

Cardinals-Detroit….Arizona stunned with loss last week bounces back…way too much firepower for Cardinals to lose again….Lions season effectively over….blame game on QB-Coach-Front office.

Broncos-Raiders….Denver defense going crazy with sacks and pressures, helping bailing out struggling offense….Peyton Manning does not look comfortable working under center and trying to run ball more than throw ball…..Raiders should have won last week….Bears watching, Derek Carr gets ball out of there before Broncos defense gets to him.

Patriots-Cowboys…Not much of a matchup here with all the Cowboys injuries, and Tom Brady and crew coming off a bye week…could be ugly beatdown in Dallas.

49ers-Giants….Lots of criticism being directed at Colin Kaeperneck, and that’s wrong…issue is front office failure to get more players around him….He is under beig time seige right now with little talent around him….Giants rally back after bad start…Eli Manning still yet to have Victor Cruz with Odell Beckham on the field at the same time.

Colts-Texans….Both teams in trouble…Andrew Luck ailing shoulder….Rotating QBs without success in Houston…Texans wasting away career of elite pass rusher JJ Watt…this might be field goal kicking contest-really ugly Thursday night game.
