Miami-W-Jets (16-13)
- The Dolphins struggled all night against a fired up Jets defense, but in the end, they used 3-Caleb Sturgis field goals to post the win, and keep alive their wildcard playoff hopes in the AFC.
- Hard to believe this was the same Miami team that slugged and shutout the Chargers a couple of weeks back, though Rex Ryan’s Jets defense can play street-fight football, and did.
- In the end, it was the failure of QB-Geno Smith to mount any passing attack that saw New York waste a lead and die in the second half. Smith was (7-13) for 65Y-throwing the football with a QB-rating of 35.
- The Jets piled up 277-yards rushing in the game, most of it in the first half, but did little in the second half after Miami committed people at the line of scrimmage. In fact the Jets ran the ball 49-times out of 62-snaps. Long live the single wing.
- The Jets fall to (2-10) and the clock ticks away on Ryan’s head coaching career. The Dolphins climb into the 2nd wildcard spot at (7-5) with four games left on the schedule
