“Questions Worth Asking”

————

Here-There-Everywhere…things I am thinking about:

CHARGERS…Chargers season feels like one of underachievement.  Brandon Staley needs leadership on his defense, which was deplorable.  Does Vic Fangio make sense?  Does to me.  Don’t understand the purging of the special teams coaching staff, especially with the way it finished up with Dustin Hopkins and Andre Roberts.

CHIEFS…On they go to the 2nd round of playoffs, and all these NFL interviews are taking place, but no one is talking to Eric Bienemy.  I find that strange.  Victimized by year by year Kansas City playoff success?

RAIDERS..Misfit owner Mark Davis leaks out whom he wants to interview for the GM job, but had not yet fired Mike Mayock.  How is that fair?  Not good news either for Rich Bisaccia to remain as head coach.  Mark Davis…’Born on 3rd base-woke up-thought he hit a triple’ as the leader of a stumbling franchise?

DENVER…Do they have a quarterback?  Do they have an offensive line?  Do any free agents want to go there?  Why would anyone want John Elway to become the Team’s President?  Maybe Peyton Manning in a new ownership grup, but Elway?

HOUSTON..Nice mess and GM-Nick Caserio tells Texans media-don’t expect Deshaun Watson to be part of the team next year.  Where is the NFL Union in supporting player, who has been held hostage the entire year, by the Texans and the NFL as this sexual misconduct lawsuit seems unresolved?  Interesting to see where he winds up, Miami, Denver, Giants?

PATRIOTS..Waiting for Josh McDaniels name to surface for interviews now that the Patriots collapse is complete.  Wonder if the faltering Cam Newton last year, and the erosion of Mac Jones productivity in the back half of this year’s schedule, has taken the shine off McDaniel’s resume?  That or the failure rate of assistants coming off the Bill Belichick tree?

ARIZONA…That was ugly, the awful Cardinals loss to the Rams.  Worse yet the revealing stats about coach Kliff Kingsbury.  His Cardinals are (5-17) in end of season games in his 3-years in Tempe.  Worse yet, his Texas Tech end of season resume shows a (9-34) end of year ledger.  Wonder if he might be terminated within a week or so?

STEELERS…Life after Ben Roethlisberger begins with this:  Do the Steelers really think Mason Rudolph-Dwayne Haskins can lead Pittsburgh back to AFC-North supremacy?  Mike Tomlin does not believe his team will go into free agency to get a veteran signal caller?

49ers…They drafted Trey Lance, does that mean this will be the end of the run for Jim Garoppolo as starting QB despite an impressive (32-14) win loss record?

BEARS..Hard to believe the dysfunction atop Chicago.  They have never had a 4,000-yard passer in their history.  And they have had 39-different quarterbacks since 1989 and the Jim McMahon era.  Nice track record?

Just a few thoughts heading to weekend two of the playoffs.
