“WILDCARD WEEKEND-WILL IT BE WILD”
====================

The NFL season was spectacular.
Have we seen the best the NFL has had to offer-these mid year matchups?
Will the post season be anti-climatic till we get to the Super Bowl.
Or might it be a crazy weekend?

A look at weekend one in the NFL’s postseason:

BUFFALO-PITTSBURGH…Josh Allen’s rebuilt relationship with his new Off Coord means the Bills are back.  Allen has accounted for (4830APY-44TD) and has stopped turning the ball over.  Stefon Diggs comes in with (107R), the TEs have (95R) and young RB-James Cook has over (1500APY).  The defense has surged the second half of the schedule.  Buffalo has won 6-of-7.  Yes the Steelers reeled off a (3-0) burst with Mason Rudolph at the controls, and their top two RBs have a combined (1800Y), and the combo of Pickens-Johnson are averaging (18-14YC).  But there is no TJ Watts this week, and they are (1-10) when Watts does not play.

CLEVELAND-HOUSTON…If there is an upset potential, it’s on the shores of Lake Erie.  Joe Flacco has been hot (1616Y-13TD) in 5-games, and the combo of David Njokue-Amari Cooper have (153R-11TD).  You wonder if that Browns pass rush (49-sacks-28 turnovers) can get to Houston QB-CJ Stroud.  Stroud has a (100-QBR), coming off a (4100Y) 23TD season with WR-Nico Collins recording an (80R-16YPC) year.  The Texans defense competes hard.  If this turns into a shootout, Houston could pull an upset.  Does Flacco’s magic run out, or does the pressure on Stroud take its toll.

CHIEFS-MIAMI…So what’s the biggest phrase heading into Saturday night’s game?  Not passing yards, blitzes, TDs. or big plays.  But rather ‘Weather Vortex’.  At 7pm at Arrowhead Stadium, they say 7-degrees, 16mph winds, and wind chill (-8).  Tua Tagovailoa won’t be playing in the Sunshine, but in the snow.  Yes the Dolphins are averaging (401YPG), Tua has thrown for (4624Y-29TD-101QBR).  But Tyreek Hill (119R) is banged up.  There is no Jaylen Waddle-Raheem Mostert.  There is Patrick Mahomes (4138Y-27TD, and yes there is Travis Kelce (93R).  You can trust them, who else can you trust, any of those other WRs?  Maybe the defense (289YPG-57sacks) makes a difference.  Or maybe the ‘Weather Vortex’ makes the difference.

DALLAS-GREEN BAY…Mike McCarthy-vs-Matt LaFleur, an interesting coaching matchup.  Dak Prescott-vs-Jordan Love, a cool QB matchup.  What a year for Dak (105QBR-4518Y-36TD).  What a career year for Cee Dee Lamb (135R-13YPC) with the late season emergence of Branden Cooks-Mike Gallup (88R) this offense is dynamic.  What a breakout season for Jordan Love (4159-32TD) with a very young rookie WR.  What hurts them is a defense allowing (344YPG).  In his last 8-games, Love has (18TD-1Int).  If this were Lambeau Field, maybe it would be different.  but this is in Big D, Jerry’s World, 106,000 fans.

DETROIT-RAMS….Two very good coaches, Sean McVay-Dan Campbell.  2-explosive QBs-Matthew Stafford-JaredGoff in a matchup of two guys traded for each other.  The Lions are averaging (394YPG). Goff (4575-30TD) is coming off a career year.  Add in Amir St-Brown (119R) and they are explosive.  Stafford had a bounceback year (3965-24TD), RB-Ky Williams (1145Y)… and they found WR-Puka Nacua (105R).  What they don’t have is lots of experience,upfront and  across the defense, and that could be the difference.  This Lions team has been together for three years, building towards this,first playoff game in 30-years.

TAMPA BAY-EAGLES…One team overachieved, the other underachieved.  The Eagles have lost 5-of-6, the defense is awful, and now the QB and top WR are hurt.  Jalen Hurts is now ailing with a finger injury, and you wonder if the productivity drops off (4465APY-38TD).   They have had lots of offense, but this defense has given up 51-TDs.  Baker Mayfield rallied his career, as they won 5-of their last 6-games.  The QB threw for over (4,000 and 28TD) and they have arrived with the late season burst.  If it was bad Eagles fans would boo Santa Claus, think about what happens if they lose this weekend, and they can because they are playing so badly.

Enjoy it, it may be wild.
