“NFL-QB-Carousel”

=====

The NFL training camps are now all open.

And the quarterback watch is now officially underway.

Hop sketching around the NFL road map with updates:

CLEVELAND…Still waiting for discipline to be handed down to Deshaun Watson.  Is it 8-games, 12-games, a full 1-year?  He gets taken out, and Jacoby Brissett has to fill the void.

CAROLINA…Baker Mayfield-vs-Sam Darold, but will it make much of a difference?  It is threadbare team talent wise, and they need Christian McCaffrey healthy.

SEATTLE…Life after Russell Wilson will not be easy if journeyman Geno Smith is the replacement.  Maybe the Seahawks are not yet done looking for a new QB.

49ERS…It’s Trey Lance’s team and everyone has praised his abilities in the OTA’s.  Now we see what happens when the real bullets start flying.  Jimmy Garoppolo will be on the open market, possibly by Friday, but who know how healthy he will be when he moves.

DENVER…Russell Wilson gives them what they have not had since the Peyton Manning era.  Now we see if the defense that Vic Fangio built, before he was fired, can perform again, without a Von Miller.

WASHINGTON….Carson Wentz is on his 3rd team in 3-years, let go by the Eagles and Colts.  Who know if he ever recaptures his star status.  Doing it in Washington may be hard-not much of a roster.

INDIANAPOLIS…Matt Ryan has gas left in the tank, and he has pretty good firewpoer around him.

ATLANTA…Life after Matt Ryan has now begun.  Marcus Mariota does not have a history of staying healthy.  We may see Desmond Ridder sooner than later with the Falcons.

NEW ORLEANS….Just wondering if Jameis Winston will be as good as he was two years ago under Sean Payton, now that Dennis Allen is head coach.

HOUSON..They say they like Davis Mills, and he was pretty competitive a a year ago, but there’s not a lot around him on that roster.

PITTSBURGH…Mike Tomlin has 3 QBs but little proven experience now that Ben Roethlisberger has retired.  Will be interesting to see how much patience anyone has in Pittsburgh if the QB play is substandard.  You can’t run the ball 55-times a game.

We start preseason games a week from now.  Going to be very interesting to see who succeeds, who struggles, who fails, and what teams do if the QB position becomes a negative.
