“NCAA WOMEN’S TOURNEY-ELECTRIC”
==============

The last time we saw them, it was a wild basketball game, filled with hard fouls, trash talk and taunting.

You remember the end of LSU-Iowa, the Lady Tigers upset win over the Hawkeyes. Angela Reece storming up the court with the game ball…her hand in the air trying to show Caitlin Clark where her championship ring was going to fit on her hand.

The rematch was pretty good basketball, but none of the fireworks happened when it was over, because Clark put on a Clark show.

The Iowa record setting guard scored (41P)…and chipped in with an impressive 12-assists and 7-rebounds in an end to end (94-87) shootout win. She hit 9-3’s along the way.

Reece, the LSU’s tremendous center, started like a house afire, with drives to the hoop, blocked shots and explosive play, but injured an ankle late in the first half blocking a shot. She came back and played but was not dominant despite finishing up with a (17P-20R) night.

When it was over, outspoken coach Kim Mulkey, who has feuded with the media all year, hugged Clark and whispered in her ear, and so did Reece, as the LSU season fell short of the final four.

The oither game of the night was dynamic as U-Conn, which survived 5-major injuries this year, subdued JuJu Watkins and USC.

The Lady Huskies star Paige Beucker was dynamic, in the (80-73) win, going off for a (28P-10R-6A) night as UConn won its 33rd game of the year to advance behind legendary coach Gino Auriemma.

Women’s college basketball has exploded on the national stage over the last 24-months.

The sport that began with a big center Lucy Smith-at Delta State decades ago and grew with the likes of Ann Donovan-Old Dominion, Nancy Liebermann, Rebecca Lobo, Candace Parker and then Dawn Staley, has become its own big business venture.

They shoot, run, defend, board, and whistle length of the court passes nightly, and now the best of the best showed their talents on Monday night heading to the Final 4 weekend coming up.

It’s electric to watch.
