The draft boards are set, the chase for the blue chip quarterbacks is about to begin.

And though college football fans know the names, the clubs know where the strengths, weaknesses, and concerns lie.

Here’s a look at the top QB’s on the NFL Draft board heading to Thursday’s opening round.

JOE BURROW-LSU (6’4-216)…Exploded as second year starter for Tigers..(5,671P-60TD), a huge jump from his first year.  Rave reviews for ability to process new playbook going to shotgun-wide open-spread attack…Surrounded by great talent but made big plays regardless of opponent.  Adequate arm strength, very accuarate with big time mobility to run if need be..Cocky, strong, great football attitude-mentality…Coaches call him a ‘baller’.

TUA TAGOVAILOA-ALABAMA (6′-230)…Dynamic player with real durability questions now..Surrounded by tons of talent…finished career (87TD-11Int)….Pinpoint on all types of passes…makes a lot of great throws-ultra accurate…Instinctive-adapts to different systems..ultra competitive….Injuries dropping down the board…5-injuries-4 surgeries in 2-and-half seasons with Tide….Dislocated hip surgery-2-ankle injuries-2 wrist injuries-1 knee injury…Doctors say healthy but concern over ability to stay on the field and if hip deteriorates in years to come.  What type of QB will he be if he does not have Alabama-type playmakers with him…Laid back personality…but leader in huddle….Worked in off season with former NFL coach Ken Whisenhunt

JUSTIN HERBERT-OREGON (6’6-237)…Four year starter at Oregon…stayed in school extra year…has (4.05-GPA)….Student of game…Super Smart-Tough guy…Great pocket presence…can scramble…has cannon for arm and accurate…big-fast….Rythm passer-reads defenses-blitzes well..Showed he could handle changing head coaches-coordinators-over three years… Carried team that did not have firepower talent that LSU-Alabama had…(10,541Y-95TD-44 Games) in brilliant career….Tremendous Rose Bowl and then Senior Bowl outing…Not a dynamic personality-firebrand..but hits a lot of checkmarks on boxes..

JORDAN LOVE-UTAH STATE (6’4-223)…A really skilled athlete who has special (2018) season but tailed off in (2019)…..Was it him or was it them….Aggies had new head coach…he had 3-offensive coordinators in 3-years….went from (30TD-6Int) to (20TD-17Int) last year…but also had 9-new starters around him last season…Has run Air Raid and Pro Set offenses…forced alot of passes into coverage last year…Stock keeps going up and down…Some say 1st round…others see him falling out of top round….Probably a bit of a project…How much football does he really know?

JALEN HURTS-OKLAHOMA (6’2-219)…Rising up the board after strong season after transferring from Alabama to the Sooners (3,851APY-32TD-8 Int)….Career marks impressive running different systems at two schools (12,751APY-123TD)…Big time player who played well in big time games…Strong arm…Mobility…Durability made him impossible to defend in college…Has not had much responsibility at line of scrimmage-so learning curve coming there..Future ahead of him.

JACOB EASON-WASHINGTON (6’6-227)…Started 1-year at Georgia…1-year at Washington..Looks the part-big-strong (3,132-23TD-8Int) with up and down Huskies team…Reputation as fiery but also a party guy..Elite arm-makes all the throws-great mechanics…Good pocket presence but doesn’t move pocket well…Might be a gem down road.

JAKE FROMM-GEORGIA (6’1-219)…3-year starter finished solid but not spectacular season (2,960-24TD-5Int) year with offense that ran ball a lot..Arm strength is question for deep balls…but very accurate…strong team leader…more touch-finesse passer…Manages games well-can he win games at NFL level?
