Bob Melvin, who had 90-win seasons in tough situations in Seattle..Arizona and Oakland, and a man who comes with much respect around the game, has signed a record (3Y-12M) deal to fix all that is wrong in San Diego.

Yes, Andy Green and Jayce Tingler may have won their introductory press conferences, talking philosophies and ideas, they had never won games in a major league dugout.

Melvin won the press conference too, in a baseball starved city, but in doing so, he did it with his (1,346) major league wins.  He won it by talking about doing it with young teams with no experiences…with older teams about to embark on rebuilds.  He did it with old school style mixed with new school analytics.
