..All endings are a beginning..we build now off what we learned
..This is a special team-we are building something that will last
..We have developed a competitive character
..Would not change alot from the lst year as coach
..Coaches as defensive coordinator as well as I could
..I have a library full of experience from my first year
..I want to be a complete coach-was doing alot of things for 1st time
..I learned quickly about things I need to do
..Now I know what I have to do to improve
..Scrutiny of my play calls is fine..I know gravity of job I have
..We designed our packages to fit our strengths of the team
..Our identity as beign aggressive helped us win games
..I was energized to call plays on defense-improved as we wen along
..It takes 1-to-3 years to build our type of defense
..Our run defense-3rd down defense impacted by lack continuity players
..Our inconsistency was triggered by who was not in there in DL and DBs
..We lacked continuity on defense because of injuries
..Fixing the defensive line will be center of our thought process
..Now we know what we have to do in off season
..We had a defensive fight all season long to find consistency on 3rd downs
..Not talk about talent-we need to build a complete team
..Goal is to be a complete season-having 2nd off season will help
..All of our draft picks were active players on game day and did well

..Justin Herbert-Wanted to get system right for him to excell
..Created a structure around him to see player he could be
..Had to rebuild the front..need be a Line of Scrimmage team-we were
..Our system challenged him-he will be better with 2nd off season
..We got it right-he threw for 5,000-yards
..He improved so much as a player and leader
..We have laid a good foundation here in less than 11-monthsS
